Red Pine Camp Foundation, Inc which operates Red Pine Camp for Girls, a summer residential girls camp located in Minocqua, WI, has announced its Board of Directors.

“We were seeking a specific blend of talents and skill sets,” Connie Scholfield, Red Pine Camp’s Executive Director, explains. “Red Pine is entering its 73rd season. We are a not for profit 501 (c) 3 organization. Our Board of Directors will guide Red Pine so we will remain a viable summer camp for girls and will remain true to the values set forth by founders Richard and Helen Wittenkamp.”
Red Pine Camp was family owned until 2007. Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation acquired Red Pine Camp with the intention that it would remain a camp which would focus on nature and empowerment for girls and with the intent to hold the property until the Red Pine Camp Foundation had time to establish its operational structure. In December of 2009 Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation gifted the property to Red Pine Camp Foundation, Inc.
The named Board of Directors will consist of five individuals including Pleasant T. Rowland, Red Pine Camp's Benefactor. Minocqua resident Irene Boudreaux wasnamed as an honorary member of the board. Since 1954, Boudreaux has served Red Pine Camp in a variety of roles including Program Director, Head Counselor, Associate Director, and Co-Director. Boudreaux retired from Red Pine in 2002. Sarah W. Rolley, former co-director and former owner of Red Pine and daughter of the Wittenkamps, passed away May, 2009.
Sandy Drewes, Oxford, Ohio
Sandra Drewes is on faculty at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She teaches in the Departments of Teacher Education and Teacher Leadership instructing courses addressing leadership skills, literacy, teaching methods, developmentally appropriate practices, critical thinking, and ethics. In the college setting, Drewes combines her practical early childhood classroom teaching experience with current research in the field of education and the present day educational standards. Her family owned and managed Camp Golden Eagle for Boys, Woodruff, Wisconsin, where she worked as Associate Director and American Camping Association liaison for 10 years. Drewes has been affiliated with Red Pine Camp since 1962 as a camper, counselor, and waterfront director. She is the parent of two Red Pine campers who both have completed the Red Pine counselor training program and been on the staff in recent years.

Chip Halverson, Northfield, IL
Chip Halverson retired in 2009 as Senior Vice President of MedAssets, Inc. He was with MedAssets since its founding in 1999. Prior to MedAssets, Halverson was with Comdisco, Inc, 1984 through 1999 and served as President of Comdisco Healthcare Group and Corporate Senior Vice President. He has a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern. Halverson is currently on the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International and serves as Chair of the Development Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. Halverson has been associated with Red Pine Camp since 1976 when he married Patricia Lawlor, a Red Pine counselor for six years. Their two daughters attended Red Pine as campers. Their eldest was also a counselor.
"Having been associated with Red Pine for over 30 years and two generations I am excited about serving on the Board of Directors. The Red Pine experience and the values that come with are to be treasured. Hopefully the Board and the entire RPC community can work together to preserve and enhance that experience.”
Sheila McNulty, Glenview, IL
Sheila McNulty is an attorney and serves as the Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Chicago, Illinois as part of the Department of Homeland Security. McNulty represents the United States in immigration matters brought in federal district courts in the Northern District of Illinois, Wisconsin, and
Indiana. She also served as a Trial Attorney for the Immigration & Naturalization Service from 1991 through 2000. Before law school, McNulty worked in community services with Portuguese and Haitian immigrant groups in Massachusetts for three years. McNulty’s family has been associated with Red Pine Camp for 45 years. McNulty began her affiliation with Red Pine Camp as a camper in 1972 and returned every year for the next twelve years until 1984 when she was a counselor. Her sisters Mary Frances and Mary Ellen attended Red Pine for many years, her daughter Jillian attended camp for nine years, and seven of her nieces have attended Red Pine as well. McNulty is a graduate of Regina Dominican High School ('80), Miami University of Ohio ('84), and New
England School of Law ('91). McNulty lives in Glenview with her family
that includes husband Craig and seven children, ages 3 to 22.

Amber Morgan, Whitefish Bay, WI
Amber Morgan has been associated with Red Pine Camp since 1976 as a camper, counselor, and is now a parent of two Red Pine Camp campers. Amber is a Certified Public Accountant and a former Senior Tax Manager for Arthur Anderson LLP in the Chicago, Hong Kong and Milwaukee offices. She specialized in large corporate and multi-national taxation, earnings and profits analysis, and expatriate taxation. Amber was a firm-wide specialist in the research & development tax credit and assisted numerous U.S. corporations to structure their investment into China.

Red Pine gave me self confidence, instilled in me a sense of adventure and an appreciation of nature, taught me social and athletic skills I continue to use today, and provided me with wonderful friends for a lifetime.”
Pleasant Rowland, Madison, WI
Pleasant Rowland is a noted educator and business leader whose career began as a primary grade teacher. Her lifelong interest in teaching children to read grew from her classroom experience and ultimately led to her authorship of reading and language arts programs used widely for over 35 years in schools throughout the country, teaching millions of children to read. In 1985, she created The American Girls Collection® and served as president and chairman of American Girl for 15 years. In 2000, she sold American Girl™ to Mattel and formed the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation. She has focused her energies on her philanthropic interests in arts, education, and historic preservation. In 2004, her career came full circle when she founded the Rowland Reading Foundation, dedicated to improving reading instruction in the primary grades. Rowland is a graduate of Wells College and holds honorary degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Hartford. She attended Red Pine Camp as a camper, as did one of her sisters and two of her nieces.

Red Pine Camp is a traditional residential summer camp for girls ages 7-16. Red Pine is known for the individual care given to each camper and the quality of its staff. Emphasis is placed on harmonious, courteous and responsible group living, respect for self and others, and an appreciation and utilization of the natural beauty that surrounds camp. Typically, campers attend from 27 states and 11 foreign countries. They learn a wide variety of camping and athletic skills. Serving 120 girls per 4-week session, campers may also choose an 8-week summer season. Red Pine Camp is American Camping Association, ACA, accredited.
